Rose Gold Lame´ & DSW

What can you get to wear that matches with a rose gold lame´ skirt? Surprisingly, a lot of things match with gold lame´, they just also make you look like a disco queen from the 70's which is not entirely a bad thing, but can be a *little* overbearing when you just want to grab a cappuccino and read smutty magazines. But I think I appropriately toned down the lame´ with a cool tee and these amazing grey Giuseppe Zanotti pumps from DSW

I don't know if you have ever been to DSW in San Francisco, but to me, it is the biggest little hidden gem in town. Literally the BIGGEST. The store is four stories full of shoes of every single style at every single price point. I needed a bottle of water, a Powerbar and a caddie to carry my shoe booty by the time I reached the second floor. It was amazing. Even more amazing than the amount of shoes offered, were these Giuseppe Zanotti pumps for 70% off!! And better still, the shoes show toe cleavage...the best part of my feet. Perfection.

DSW in San Francisco is located at 400 Post St., San Francisco, CA 94102. You can also buy online at www.dsw.com

Skorts and Sporks

To me, skorts and sporks are pretty much the same kind of worthless animal. They're both combination of two very useful things that when combined become one very worthless thing. Let's be honest here, your spork can't scoop soup or pick up meat with it's pathetic tiny prongs. Similarly, a skort is weird because they look ridiculous as shorts and they also look ridiculous skirts because there's shorts underneath.  And, if my understanding is correct, there isn't even a utilitarian reason to have them be combined. And just because I'm actually wearing this skort and I actually kinda love it and it actually does look cute does NOT mean that I support it because I'm not sure yet if it's the shorts that's making it cute or the skirt.  Until I figure it out, skirts are going into the same category as sporks and rompers: Love them? Or Love them, but not together because you actually want to eat your food, or because you don't want to get completely naked in a public bathroom just to pee, or because pants and skirts together is a lot of fabric that might make your booty look big and sweaty because of overheating. Decisions, decisions.

It's Easy Being Green

Just in case you were wondering what you should wear if you ever have to be Kermit the Frog for a live performance of "It's Not Easy Being Green," I have your answer here. I went with this green maxi dress and flower crown for a very earthy Kermit. My other option was a green felt unitard and some fake frog ears, which admittedly, did not look that bad on me. I went with this ensemble to be less controversial. I mean my performance was right before a woman who was going to sing "Ave Maria" and "Memory," and I thought a felt unitard might seem mocking.

Never Leave Home Without One

My husband and I like to practice something called "slow tech." It's where we limit the use of cell phones, computers, iPads, iPods, or anything with a screen and then we act smug and judge people for not connecting to each other on a "human" level like we are. Aren't we just so above it all? That is until one Sunday afternoon when we were phone-less, frantically bumbling around the city like rabid animals searching for a pastrami sandwich at some place called Deli Board which ended up being a little dry. What I discovered was not just the obvious, which is that we are so dependent on our phones, but that the most simple tasks can drive you absolutely mad. For example, without my phone, I became obsessed with the time. Like, I had no idea what time it was throughout the day and it completely stressed me out. I didn't even have anywhere to be, I just had to know! Or going to the movies. Sounds good right? Sure, let's look up some times, oh I can't, I don't have my phone. Or finding the sandwich shop, where the fuck is it? I don't know, I don't have my phone. Where are we? I don't know, I don't have my phone. Let's call an Uber to get ourselves home. I can't, I don't have my phone. Forget it, let's just get to a bus stop and take public transportation back. Hello, I can't find the bus stop, because, you guessed it, I don't have my phone!!!! Sure we may be slaves to our phones, but I got a little taste of living back in 1998 and it was bitter. Some guy even had the audacity to tell me that the shop was "south of the northeast corner" of some street. Like anyone knows what that even means.
