I don't know about you, but between all the holiday turkey, prime rib, apple pie, cake, peanut brittle, pork tenderloin, brisket and ham, I just want to get into some stretchy pants and comfy clothes.  Enter my go-to post Christmas and pre-New Year's comfy casual reprieve: stretchy jeggings and a loose top.  It's also crucial during this waiting period to stretch out that stomach for all the New Year's eve fare.  Until the ball drops, happy lounging!

A Very Vintage, English, Great Gatsby Christmas

Often times my bob haircut will dominate my outfit.  What I mean is, when you have a bob haircut it's hard to look disheveled and bohemian and put your hair in a bun, or go cool girl in a high ponytail or curl your long locks to look like a girl from The Hills.  No, there are very few choices.  I can definitely brush it and comb my bangs down--and now I'm basically out of things I can do with my hair.  However, I CAN make anything look "1920's" so whenever I go to an event I just make everything into a Great Gatsby party, or a flapper party or a 1920's party whether or not the party is actually themed that way, just because it's easier.  So here, instead of me wearing a really pretty beaded nude dress, I'm wearing a flapper dress.  It's cool, luckily I look good as a flapper--which is now my lot in life.

Labor Of Love

This is exactly the third time that I have worn what I like to call my "forever boots". However, I know that winter has begun and as the weather starts to turn ever more frosty, these boots will be making a more prominent appearance in my daily wardrobe and that scares the bejeezus out of me. As you know, I have major boot woes, so I fear that once these boots are worn through I will have no other boot options that will fit my sad baby calves.  So, I try to preserve them as best I can.  Whenever I want to wear these puppies I go through a whole laborious process of taking them out of the box, removing the individually wrapped plastic on each boot, removing the giant pieces of scrunched up paper holding them up, spraying them down with anti-water protectant and then brushing the suede so that all the dust and debris come off. And I haven't even gotten to the walking part yet! They're so comfortable, but I don't want to stretch them so much that they get all huge and then slide down my calves, so I try to walk all straight-legged like Frankenstein! It's hard, I admit, but it's the cross I have to bear for my under-powered calves. C'est la vie.
